Creating Your Profile
Getting Started
The first thing to do is register on the site. Click here, choose a username and password to create your User profile. Then create your public Comedian profile by clicking on the orange button “Create Your Profile” (above right). If you’re an agent you can create more than one Comedian profile, all managed from your User dashboard.
In short: your User details are what you fill in to log in to the site – these details are private and only seen by you – whereas your Comedian profile is the page you create with photos, clips etc, for the public to see.
Whenever you want to update your details, click on the log in button and/or the “My Dashboard” button, both of which are in the very top right hand corner of the page.
Filling Out The “Create Your Profile” Form
ComedyCaster.com is aimed at 2 types of employers:
- those looking to book artists/writers for a comedy programme or event
- casting directors for films, TV, theatre, commercials etc.
These 2 types of employers have different requirements, hence the variety of fields we’ve given you to fill out. If you’re not comfortable giving certain information, or it doesn’t apply to your particular work, leave that field blank. Any gaps won’t show on your profile. However the more fields you fill out the greater your chance of showing up in employer searches.
How much does it cost to list myself?
At the moment all listings are FREE. Once the site’s established, bugs fixed etc, we’ll work out a fair rate structure and we welcome your suggestions. In the meantime it costs nowt so fill your boots!
Can I have more than one listing?
Yes, although it’s one listing per comedy entity. If you’re an agent and want to list several clients you can manage all their profiles from your User Dashboard. If you’re in a double act or sketch group, each member can have their own page as a performer, plus there can be a page for the act itself. (Email us to add links between the performers’ profiles and the act listing.) If you’re an individual who works in more than one category, eg as a stand up and a writer, then you need just ONE profile – see below about multiple categories. Please note all listings are subject to our approval.
Can I list myself in more than one category?
Filling out the initial form allows you only one category, but once your profile is approved you can be listed in up to 3. Just email us the other category(s) you’d like and we’ll add them for you. If you want to be added to the Writers category you should be able to demonstrate you have written professionally for projects other than your own performances.
Can I edit my listing?
Yes, feel free to update it regularly. Log in and click the tiny, orange “My Dashboard” link in the top right corner. Under “Options” in your dashboard you’ll see a picture of a pencil. Click that to edit your listing. Make sure to update your changes (button at the bottom) and also to re-enter your video clip embed code – changing the sizes to 300 and 250 – before you do so.
NOTE: Whenever you edit your page, it then gets temporarily suspended from the site until the newly edited version is approved, so don’t worry if you can’t find your profile immediately afterwards, it shouldn’t take too long to be back online.
Any other questions or queries you have about your listing(s) email us here and we’ll be pleased to help you out.
