Details
Andrew Watts has a distinctive style and very original material, both of which mark him out as one to watch for the future. Previously a solicitor in London, he is now a full-time comedian and writer. He has written and performed two full-length Edinburgh shows, I wish I could be like Andrew Watts and Born to Be Mild, both of which received four-star reviews.
As seen on FHM’s Stand-Up Hero (ITV4) and The World Stands Up (Comedy Central)
**** “Lovers of stand-up laced with a cerebral cutting-edge should, without further prevarication, flock to his show” (ThreeWeeks)
**** “Watts’ quick wit was shown throughout in his sharp responses… Several clever scientific puns and slow uptake jokes… Nodding heads and belly laughs could be witnessed within seconds of each other, proving that he has plenty of strings to his bow.” (Broadway Baby)
**** “Watts is unlike your average comedian… His comedy is intelligent and so up to date it could be read by Jon Snow” (Cream of the Fringe)
“Unusual and challenging – very clever – I liked him immediately”
Ronni Ancona (from TV’s Big Impression and Strictly Come Dancing)
“I was amazed… Not just strong material, but a fantastic persona”
John Thompson (from TV’s Cold Feet and The Fast Show)
“Excellent writing”
Henry Normal (writer of Alan Partridge and The Royle Family)
“A very funny guy”
Brendon Burns (Perrier-award-winning comedian)
“Posh and witty … exquisitely funny … one of the new comics making waves” (Time Out)
“One of my favourite up-and-coming comedians, who looks and acts like he’s in middle management and whose distaste for everything laddish and fondness for cricket analogies cloaks some darker writing… There’s intelligent wit, honesty and more interesting and provocative thoughts in this show than many comics manage in a decade”. (The Scotsman)
“His distinctive style stands out – a winning mixture of pomposity, insecurity and emotional incompetence, while the fury-inducing importance he places on the trivial makes for a winning comic stance.” (chortle.co.uk)
“Lovers of stand-up laced with a cerebral cutting-edge should, without further prevarication, flock to this show” (ThreeWeeks)
His “mix of pomposity and dark humour were an original treat” (The Skinny)
