“Her conversational delivery is a treat but the chatty tone conceals some surprisingly cutting routines” The Guardian
Angie McEvoy has a sweet and laid back stage persona, fused with a dry and cutting wit. She regularly performs, either as compere or performing a set in major venues around the UK, such as Highlights, The Glee and Jongleurs.
Angie launched her career at the Edinburgh Festival in 2000, when she was voted runner-up in the BBC New Comedy Awards. She has since become a very skilled performer and achieved critical acclaim.
Angie’s festival credits include Leicester Comedy Festival, Belfast Comedy Festival, London Respect Festival, Latitude Festival and Edinburgh Festival (Big Value Show). She’s also performed in Amsterdam and Berlin as part of the OTK Road Show and at the Annual Funny Women Gala in March, to celebrate International Women’s Day.
In May 2005 Angie made history by being the first female comedienne (of any nationality) to perform stand-up in Russia, (with a translator…it’s a long story).
Angie’s many radio and TV appearances include Woman’s Hour (BBC Radio 4), Jeremy Vine Show (BBC Radio 2), LBC, regular on appearances on BBC London and Richard & Judy (Ch4), The World Stands Up (Paramount Comedy), BBC New Comedy Awards, Brain Candy and BBC Stars of Tomorrow.
She has made appearances on Richard & Judy (Ch4) discussing subjects as diverse as the Modern-Day Mother-In-Law Joke, 1930′s Advice for Young Brides and the ‘Good Idea a Day’ Website. She was a regular contributor to the Vanessa Feltz Show (BBC London) and has appeared on The Jeremy Vine Show (BBC Radio 2) RI:SE (Ch4) and the LBC Weekend Breakfast Show. She also appeared on and wrote material for the Topical News Quiz ‘Pilau Talk’ for Anglia Television.
