Details
Former teenage single mum, prison officer, victim of domestic abuse and school rebel, Ava Vidal is a unique and exciting comedy talent.
A regular on the comedy circuit in the UK from The Comedy Store to The Stand as well as international shows in India and Dubai, Ava has had four shows at Edinburgh, numerous appearances on TV in comedy and politics shows, and a host of articles for The Independent on Sunday, The Mail on Sunday and The New Statesman.
After a stint with the BBC Talent Urban Sketch Team in 2002, Ava began her stand-up career in 2003, becoming a finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards and the Hackney Empire new act competition. She was one of six housemates to take in part in Channel 4′s KINGS OF COMEDY, and in 2007 was selected to take part in NBC’s LAST COMIC STANDING.
She has featured on MICHAEL MACINTYRE’S COMEDY ROADSHOW on primetime BBC One as well as stand-up shows for Comedy Central and Channel 4, and has since become a frequent panellist on MOCK THE WEEK.
She has been the subject of her own documentary for Channel 4, has been a political commentator for ITN and has written and presented a show about political satire for BBC Radio 4. She recently finished writing for GATES, the new sitcom for Sky Television edited by Jennifer Saunders.
