Des McLean is one of Scotland’s top stand up comedians. His work has included live stand up comedy shows, radio, television, theatre and pantomime.

Television:
‘The One Show’ – BBC TV – May 2011
Des presented a piece on the Scottish Election results for BBC TV’s popular nightly magazine programme ‘The One Show’ to 6 million viewers.

Des presented a piece on the Edinburgh Tram plans for BBC TV’s popular nightly magazine programme ‘The One Show’ to 6 million viewers.

‘Des McLean – Is This the way to armadillo’ – stv – March 2010
A one hour special of Des’s show at The Clyde Auditorium in front of a sell out crowd of 3000. Des was a headline act for The Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2010. Produced and directed by Paul Hineman and Kim Kinnie of Incorporated Media for STV.

‘The Hour’ – STV – February 2010
Des co-hosted the popular STV teatime magazine show with Michelle McManus for 7 nights. Produced by Tom Cara for STV.

‘Toffee in his Pocket’ – STV – December 2008
Des contributed to this documentary about the life of the great Scottish comedian Chic Murray. Produced and directed for STV by Paul Hineman.

‘How We Made the Break’ – STV – january 20o8
Des contributed to this STV production investigating the funny side of popular TV adverts throughout the decades. Produced and directed by Paul Hineman and Kim Kinnie for STV.

Radio:
‘Bowie at Breakfast’ – Radio Clyde – 2007 – 2010
Des was part of the award winning ‘Bowie at Breakfast’ team. His daily 08:10 sketches and wind-up calls featuring wicked impersonations of major celebrities have fooled stars such as Sean Connery, Joan Rivers, and Rod Stewart. The show has been nominated in three consecutive years for a Sony Radio Award – a first ever for a Scottish radio breakfast show. They have a daily audience of over 350,000 listeners.

‘Des McLean’s Sunday Lunch’ – Radio Clyde – 2009 – 2010
Des hosts his own popular weekly radio show. A mixture of his own brand of comedy and great music which has a huge following in the West of Scotland listening area.

Theatre:
‘Pinocchio’ – The Pavilion Theatre Glasgow – 2009
Des played one of the lead roles as Jiminy Cricket in the Glasgow Pavilion Theatre’s popular family pantomime.

‘The Wizard of Never Woz’ – The Pavilion Theatre Glasgow – 2008
Des played one of the lead roles as The Tin Man in the Glasgow Pavilion Theatre’s popular family pantomime. Des’s skills as a singer, dancer and mimic were all used to full effect in this colourful production.

‘Two Tales of Love and Loss’ by David Kilby – The Tron Theatre Glasgow – 2007
His natural flair for observational comedy won Des one of the the lead roles in this thoughtful drama which was produced and directed by BAFTA Award winner Paul Hineman. This played to much critical acclaim and packed audiences.
