The Ginge, The Geordie & The Geek

The Ginge, The Geordie & The Geek

Details

This hilarious sketch trio consists of Graeme Rooney, Paul Charlton and Kevin O’Loughlin.

At the 2009 Edinburgh Festival the boys sold over 3,000 tickets and in 2010they sold 3,500 making it a complete sell out and having to add an extra date due to such popular demand. These three comedians create genuinely funny, fast paced sketches, jam packed with great characters, silliness, surrealism and 80’s power ballads.

The boys recently appeared with Michael McIntyre and Jimmy Carr on the bill for the Childish Things Charity gig in front of 2,000 people and also on the BBC’s Dick and Dom’s Funny Business with Catherine Tate. With endorsements from Johnny Vegas, Catherine Tate, James McAvoy and Nathan Connolly (Snow Patrol), The Ginge, the Geordie and the Geek will soon be attempting an audacious bid to take over the world.

With individual comedy credits including Little Britain, Dogtown (BBC3), Simon Pegg’s Run Fatboy Run and Irvine Welsh’s Wedding Belles, along with two Fringe First Awards, it is not surprising that these three men have the audience in stitches after each and every sketch.

‘Brilliant, really brilliant!’ – Catherine Tate

‘The funniest reminder that Oxbridge have no monopoly on genius mucking about. All hail the new chiefs!’ – Johnny Vegas

‘Fantastic! Every single sketch is funny. They’re the must-see sketch group’ – James McAvoy

‘Get a ticket if you can – with glittering prizes beckoning, next year you might be too late’ – Scotsman

‘side splittingly funny sketches, it seems a shame when they inevitably have to come to an end’ – Three Weeks

All three members of the group studied acting together at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama graduating in 2004 and the boys now mentor graduating third year students.

Graeme Rooney appeared in ‘Rab C Nesbitt’ this year and has played memorable comedic characters in both Irvine Welsh’s critically acclaimed ‘Wedding Belles’ and the Award winning ‘Skins’ – appearing on the Baftas for the latter. He featured as a guest lead in the popular BBC series ‘Ashes to Ashes’. Other guest leads include ’Rebus’, ‘Taggart’, ‘Holby City’ and ‘Casualty’. He’s performed at The Globe, Royal Court, the Barbican and Dundee rep.

Paul Charlton winner of two Fringe First Awards for his comedy play Love, Sex and Cider in which he also starred and for the 2009 festival hit ‘Crush’ which has just finished a national tour. Paul has also written for Live Theatre Newcastle and contributed material to the Karen Dunbar series 2 (BBC SCOTLAND). He is now working with Kaye Mellor’s production company Rollem Productions developing two original comedy dramas entitled ‘Stacked’ and ‘Acorn House’. As a performer screen credits include ‘Little Britain’ (BBC1), ‘Live Girls present Dog Town’ (BBC3) and Sir Richard Attenborough’s feature film ‘Closing the Ring’.

Kevin O’Loughlin born and bred in Glasgow, his credits include playing a stammering policeman in ‘Car Thieves’ by Che Walker for Birmingham Rep, the critically acclaimed comedy ‘By The Way’ at the Pleasance Edinburgh and has also performed previously at the Glasgow Comedy Festival in ‘The Write Brothers’ sketch show (part of the writing team behind BBC’s ‘Chewing the Fat’). His first appearance on screen was as Sammy in ‘River City’ but more recently he acted with Simon Pegg in the film ‘Run Fat Boy Run’ directed by David Schwimmer. He will be appearing in ‘Taggart’ as Scott Clarkson later this year.
